Should we remove our current fence posts of drill new holes?

Next weekend, we are replacing our 6′ privacy fence. We have put one up before by renting a post hole digger and drilling new holes. But we have not replaced one before.

Which would you recommend? Removeing the current post and cement or just digging new holes?

We are not sure how easily the old post will come out vs how hard it is to drill new hole.

Thanks!

    Hi Andrea,
If the fence post are in good shape and you are going back with the same type fence you can reuse them. if they are showing their age or your fencing is a different type you will need to replace them.
Easy way to remove them is by forcing water down the outside of the concrete and pulling out the old post.
You can make a tool by getting a 3 foot piece of 1/2 galvanized pipe, put a 3/4 hose to 1/2 fip attachment on the inlet side and a 1/2 to 1/4 inch adapter on the outlet side. this will allow you to stick the pipe all the way down beside the cement and hydro cut the dirt from around it. This will be a bit messy, but easier than breaking the concrete apart in the hole and pulling it out piece by piece.
